Chapter Twenty-Three

Tris stays the night in Four's apartment, which escalated quite quickly from holding hands for five seconds, because she doesn't want to go back to the dorms. She realizes that she likes him when he isn't being dauntless.

"He is not sweet or gentle or particularly kind. But he is smart and brave, and even though he saved me, he treated me like i was strong. That is all I needed to know." - Tris

When she wakes up and her and Four go into the dining pavilion. Four told her that she needed to show some weakness for them to stop bothering her. I agree with him. She goes to sit down and Al isn't anywhere to be seen.

When Drew walks in, he is completely bruised, and that is putting it nicely. For kind of kicked his ass when he found Tris.

Later, Four takes all of the transfer initiates to what will be the third phase of training. The fear landscapes are a compilation of their fears from the fear simulation, except this time they will actually be physically be walking through every single one of their fears.

"You can get past each obstacle in one of two ways. Either you find a way to calm down, or youfind a way to face the fear, which can force the simulation to move on." - Four

When they get back to the dorm, Al asks to talk to Tris. He is crying and begging for her forgiveness, but Tris forgets the person inside her that is forgiving. She tells him to never come near her again and if he does, she will kill him.

"If you do, I swear to god I will kill you. You coward." - Tris

One part of me finds this to be really harsh, but the other feels like Al deserved everything he got.
