Holding hands, Four takes Tris to the bottom of the chasm. Four tells her that he isn't Divergent, but his results were as expected, Abnegation. The only reason he left was to get away from his dad. I mean I would if that were my situation.
"I still feel the ghost of a stinging belt on my wrist." - Tris
Four thinks that he belongs equally in both factions though. He could just as easily fit into Abnegation the way he fits into Dauntless.
"I have a theory that selflessness and bravery aren't all that different." - Four
I completely agree with this, although it isn't the only reason people act bravely. When you see somebody in danger, because you are selfless, it causes you to act bravely by putting their life before your own.
Four says that the reason he has been watching her closely is because he likes her. Even though Tris doesn't understand why because she thinks she isn't pretty, he likes the way she looks and the kind of person she is.
Then they kiss at the bottom of the chasm and it is the most perfect moment ever in a book. Ever.
