Chapter Thirty-Seven

Tris takes her father, Caleb and Marcus with her to the Dauntless compound. She didn't want to take Marcus, but he insisted he might know something about the computers. There's the hatred I was looking for.

"Half of bravery is perspective." - Tris

I completely agree with this. Danger is very real, but fear is a choice. It just depends on how you handle it.

When they get into the Dauntless compound, Peter is there. He is such a jerk. Anyway, Tris teaches him a lesson and shoots him in the arm in order to find out where the simulation  is being controlled. Apparently he was taken off the simulation after having his records reviewed.

He says the only way he will tell is if they take him with them. Now there's a coward.

Tris tells Caleb and Marcus to wait outside with Peter because he will only slow them down, while Tris and her father head to the control room. I can feel it now...her dad is going to die. :(

When they get to the top of the elevator two Dauntless guards are there waiting. Tris hits the ground, avoiding bullets and her father jumps out of the elevator and runs, causing a diversion for Tris.

He is shot in the gut, but he uses his last bit of life to take out the Dauntless soldiers. Then he falls to the ground and dies.

This book sucks.

Tris has to stop the simulation. Her parents died so she could stop the mass murder of innocent people. Se runs to the control room fighting off tears and sees a person manning the screens.

"Tobias" - Tris
